Concert Review: Homeshake Makes Music For Your Earth To Quake At Baby’s All Right
I am 100% convinced that everybody at the Homeshake’s Baby’s All Right concert texted their lovers after his performance. This artist is so unabashedly about the “baby-making” process that the water of the venue almost ran out from sensual heat. Forgive me if I am too abrasive on my innuendos, but Homeshake brings back the old-school 90’s R&B vibes that relished in the idea of physical contact. Moreover, he smashed said idea with synth-waves that covered his vocals like bedsheets being rustled.
We all need music that turns us on and sparks the passionate side of our relationship. While love is the foundation, passion can be a frame to the bond a person has with their partner. Thus, Homeshake plays to that frame with a voice that oozes like warm oil dripping onto each rhythm. His vocals slide down the back-end of beats with warm subtlety that makes sure there is never one instance where the audience does not enjoy his vocal and musical chords together. The result is a multi-sensory experience that will leave you texting your girlfriend or boyfriend, ‘Where are you? Can you come over?”. Again, I am not saying this to be “fresh” or daring. I am saying this because not every artist can sing for sensuality with devolving into sexuality. Many musicians relish sex as a carnivorous act of which their details can be animalistic or numbing. Yet, Homeshake’s lyrics are about that moment when two people that love and like each other spiritually, mentally, and emotionally decide to add the “physically” part, as well. He coos and even yells in tracks to add the feeling as if his concert is a musical rendition of having love be made to you. Still, I elaborate that he is not tasteless, which, again, I enjoyed. His music shows how sophisticated sex can seem when two people like each other and know how to play each other’s body and soul like the keys Homeshake presses to make his winding melodies.
One thing that I enjoyed about Homeshake’s sounds is that each song felt like long, drawn electro riff into the night. His music is a R&B rhythms heavily blended with a dark, psychadelic electronica. Yet, even that statement does not do his sound justice. I say dark because it feels as if his music is for the night: when only the twinkle of stars and candles guide you to your lover. Moreover, electro music can come off, in vision, as bouncing or loud, but, Homeshake’s music spreads throughout the room like a rich spell casting over a crowd. As the audience swayed and closed their eyes, it was hard not absorb his music like his latest album title: Fresh Air. Each song felt too easy and necessary to breath in which is why Homeshake is a concert for when you want to feel laid-back, especially with your partner. Moreoover, I enjoyed that Homeshake was not front and center on the stage. Instead, he was in the corner, making his keyboard the center of his sided nook, which made him appear like a music wizard; again, casting spells through lustful melodies.
