Concert Review: Jagwar Twin Prowls At Irving Plaza
Jagwar Twin’ LOVES to perform. Believe it or not; many artists do not enjoy performing. It is an incredibly vulnerable act that, for some, takes getting used to, but English looked revive by the Irving Plaza audience. It was as if seeing a crowd was the equivalent to seeing God.
When you love something, your talent becomes better. It is as if your heart begins to back your craft to make you original. Such a truth followed English as he gravitated towards the ledge of the stage. He was in constant flirt mode with the audience; giving them glaring eyes and contorting his body as if wanted to be devoured by music. In a way, he felt like the twin of a jaguar; understanding that you need prowess in how you capture a crowd.
Jagwar Twin – Long Time Coming (Official Video)
For Jagwar Twin, a show is an offering of one’s self, and he wanted to give everything to the moment before him. As the first opener, he was aware that he was introducing himself, as well. Hence, with his backing band, he gave a classic, raucous rocker vive. There were some definition, Motley Crew/ Guns N’ Roses vibes; with the band uniting and bashing their head to the air as if it was an oxygenated wall. They felt like a cross between a riot and a party; with the red lighting flaming their fiery performance. From “Loser” to “Long Time Coming,” this dynamic was perfect because most of Jagwar Twin’s music sings to never getting your proper due.
Jagwar Twin – Loser (Live in a Living Room)
At times, we do not feel like losers because we think we are not enough; it is because we were too good for what we got. When your hard work does not get rewarded, you feel like, “What is the point? Might as well care less.” It is in that wildness that Jagwar Twin’s music thrives as rock n’ roll to make you care less about rewards and more about fun.
