Concert Review: Jessie J Is Unstoppable At Manhattan Hammerstein
Jessie gives one of the best concerts you will ever see. She is a star by her very definition; balancing a level of celebrity with an approachability that makes you think she is your old, college roommate; somehow, she knows your vulnerabilities, quirks, and has a set of inside jokes she is ready to whip out. At Manhattan Hammerstein, she was giving the crowd a “Color Me Barbara” fabulosity that had viewers and Vogue at her whim.
When I first saw Jessie J it was at Le Poisson Rouge, and the room was not big enough to contain her TOUR DE FORCE! Frankly, nor was Manhattan Hammerstein because Jessie J could make a galaxy feel small compared to her personality. She has a hilarious, self-deprecating humor that makes her feel like she is one of “us,” but not many of us have a voice that could, legitimately, hit Whitney Houston notes or could walk out of a room a couple of times to change into Vogue cover fashions. MY GAWD! From a Red Queen dress to a golden jumpsuit, on fashion alone, her show was worth attendance. Still, Jessie J’s success is 100% based on how stunning her vocality and how admirably she holds dominance over it.
Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj – Bang Bang ft. Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj
Jessie J uses her voice like a rainbow bridge to your heart, which is why the positivism of her tracks hit you as genuine and gorgeous. While, nowadays, more artists aim to be honest about their anxieties, and use their music as a platform for healing, Jessie J has ALWAYS had this initiative. “Who You Are,” “Price Tag,” “Nobody’s Perfect,” and “Masterpiece” were just a few songs that amplified Jessie’s natural penchant for empowerment. With intimate audios dispersed in between sets, as she changed outfits, the night felt divided into 4 chapters; each interconnected by Jessie J’s mission to use her songs as self-healing, and then offer them to others as an inspiration for them to heal themselves.
Jessie J – Queen
Honestly, it is impossible to walk away from a Jessie J concert feeling like life is and can be okay. She gives so much happiness in her show, which is why it was exciting to see so many people in one room boogieing the night away. From how the crowd waved at her as if each individual believed they could get her attention to a hilarious happy birthday song for a 19 year old kid prepping to be a flight attendant, the night was filled with random, wonderful memories. Hence, you will never forget a Jessie J concert, and you would not want to. While everyone there had become a fan of hers because of her powerful voice, they had come to her show because of her empowering heart. For More Information on Jessie J Click Here.
