Concert Review: Jessie J Is My New Best Friend At LPR NYC

Jessie J is, literally, my new fave artist. I always like Jessie J, and the woman can sing. Yet, at her LPR NYC show, I realized she can SANG! She transformed all of her pop hits into bare, Gospel anthems that made you realize how worthy of a songwriter she truly is. Jessie J can make a radio record in a snap, but, more importantly, she can perform a spiritual track to leave you sparked.
Jessie J – Not My Ex

Now there are “chatty” artists, and then there are ones, like Jessie J, whom are “Girl, let’s talk!”. From the eternal struggles of the our seemingly eternal single-hood to the constant battle to keep confident that our talent does not grow stale like leftover food, Jessie J revealed something not a lot of artists like to reveal on stage: her humanity. She spoke with a candor and comfortableness that made me feel like we were sitting at brunch on our third mimosa. I thought I had seen artists pour their heart and soul onto the stage, but then I witnessed Jessie J, which is why her concert is more comparable to a church ceremony than a Pop Music Tour. She was unbelievably charming, authentic, and knew even her biggest fans by name and demeanor (Hi Tommy!). Yet, that was why I firmly state her show is one of the best I have seen. She was kind and hilarious; to the point where I had to remind myself this was NOT an NYC Comedy Fest! It was hard to remember because Jessie J is so interpersonal; even getting off stage and coming into the audience for hugs and inside jokes with fans.
Jessie J – Think About That

I genuinely adore Jessie J, but that gained adoration is why she has lasted 10 years and can last a 100 more in this industry. You feel a loyalty to people that are welcoming to you, and acknowledge that you exist in a room/ the world, which central theme to her music I discovered that night. Tracks like, “Nobody’s Perfect” , “Who You Are”, “Flashlight”,  a brilliant cover of Michael Jackson’s Earth Song, and, of course, “Price Tag” were transformed into epic opuses of light telling you that, “You exist! And I see you!”. While on tv Ms. J appears like a fun, bombastic songstress, which she is, in a concert she comes forward as incredibly thoughtful and intelligent. Add on that she wore a boxer’s cape, and Jessie J showed she is a champion amongst singers. She can whip at vocal notes like they were wild and needed a quelling lashing. She literally, skedaddled like a 1930’s jazz vocalist. Purely UNSTOPPABLE! For More Information On Jessie J Click Here. I cannot WAIT FOR A Jessie J – Real Deal (Lyric Video)
