Concert Review: Ruth B. Is The Future At Summerstage

With Corrine Bailey Rae headlining the Summerstage event, Ruth B felt right at home. Smooth vocal stylings describing the wonder it is to be alive. Watching her give her most confident performance yet, she became an emblem for how time teaches you to make your best consistent.

Ruth B. feels like the Norah Jones/ Corrine Bailey Rae our generation. She jazzifies R&B, of which even her most uproarious track simmers. She can’t help but emanate a softness that made her relatable and effortless because, for the most part, the world is filled with good people trying to be loved and get better. Ruth B. feels like those people and her music their heart’s movements. “Slow Fade,” “Rare,” and “If This Is Love” felt like succinct ballads: cllear, crisp, and quick dives into how to love yourself as you love another.

Ruth B. – Don’t Disappoint Me (Live)

Performing in between DJ Natasha Diggs  and Jose James; funkadelic rhythms and, again, opening for the STAR Corrine Bailey Rae, Ruth B’s voice and sound leapt from the stage because of its innocence and purity. Going between her keyboards and the mic, she came off warm and harmless. Yes, I said harmless. Again, part of Ruth B’s charm is that she appears non-malicious; singing t love with such a hopefulness that young hearts feel like they can never break again. Thus, her voice pillows and paces notes to make you see that listening to a song is like strolling through an art museum: every rhythm and verse is meant to be observed like a painting.

As I mentioned, Ruth B has grown in presence on the stage. I have seen her perform a few times, in intimate, lounge settings, of which she thrives thanks to her humble sweetness. She appears like the person who would say, “Hello!” if they saw you alone in the room. That type magnetism vaped through the heat of Summerstage’s outdoor venue. Moreover, she felt like an exceptional notch in the consistently great lineups Summerstage is offering this summer. Click Here For More Information On Ruth B And Summerstage.
