Concert Review: Sage Charmaine Is An Alter Ego At Bowery

“YAAASSSS!!!!!!!!!!!” yelled a crowd of ladies as Sage Charmaine broke into a twerk and tossed her pink hair. She fully embodies the “bad b**ch” mentally sweeping our nation. Women are cool, fun, sexy, mischievous, smart, and completely owning of these qualities. For Sage Charmaine, music ignites your alter ego and its allowance of such qualities. At Bowery Ballroom, her persona was her person.

The craziest thing about an alter ego or a persona is that, inevitably, it embodies a genuine aspect of you. Sage Charmaine embodies ferocity and bluntness. Tracks like, “Don’t Bother Me” and “Ashes,” from her newest EP, Don’t Leave Me, asked ladies to say what they mean and mean what they say. This may be the eternal tagline of the Bronx, but it is also a truth that not many carry, especially in our social media world. Nowadays, it feels like all you need to do is look back in people’s tweet history to see their emotional regrets. The irony is that, at times, we can say more to a screen then our boyfriend’s face, which is why the audience like Sage Charmaine. You felt she would tell both off (lol!).

Ashes (Sage Charmaine x Rocky)

Stylistically, Sage Charmaine felt like a live-action Bratz Doll; giving edge and attitude to old-school Barbies. Her version of femininity pushed the ideas of “girlieness” through color, creativity, and sass. I said it with Raja Kumari, and I say it with Sage Charmaine, as well; young women are looking for other women to teach them how to stand strong. It is a great time to be a woman because, even though we are still threatened and degraded because of our gender, we are also fighting back in newer, powerful ways. Hence, lyrically, Sage Charmaine promotes self-love, self-confidence, and the choices both help you to make in relationships and goals. For More Information On Sage Charmaine Click Here.
