Concert Review: Sheer Mag Hulk Smash Elsewhere

If John Waters had his own version of the Sex Pistols, it would be Sheer Mag. The band feelsripped in sound and style from the punk fantasy of Cry-Baby. They are Pop-Culture greasers riding “motorcycle melodies” to benevolent rebellions, and, at Elsewhere, that was their crowd’s cup of tea.

Sheer Mag- Blood From a Stone (Lyric Video)

As the moshing ensued and I skidded to the side, crowd surfing ignited while Tina Halladay  belted every note in her range. She is the first artist I highly recommend getting front row to see because part of enjoying her voice is seeing her expressions. She does not sing a lyric without giving some type of facial expression of eye glare to physically emote, “SHE HAS HAD ENOUGH!” For their fans, Sheer Mag goes as hard as a sock filled with batteries and candy; yes, it could still hurt someone if you swing it, but it is also carrying your favorite jolly rancher.

Sheer Mag- Hardly to Blame

Deadly and dazzling is not an easy balance, but, for the good people of Earth, it is the one we want. I want to be a superbly kind person that will Hulk-Smash anyone that crosses my path (lol!). You may laugh at my weird note, but that is the attraction of Sheer Mag as performers/ the soundtrack to your everyday strolls. They have a saccharine nature to their roaring chords like a King Lion that is going vegan. For the sweet and sassy, Halladay feels like a glamorous badass; a woman that promotes compassion as much as cut-throat comebacks.

If Janis Joplin And The Alabama Shakes put their swag and vocality into a rocket-ship and that rocket landed in Mars to do indie flicks with Jonah Hill, you would have Sheer Mag. WOW THAT WAS SPECIFIC! Yet, their cinematic, cosmic take on rock n’ roll would make anyone want to body surf a concert crowd or tell their jerk boss “I Quit.” For More Information On Sheer Mag Click Here.
