Concert Review: Sure Sure Are Certainly Good At MHOW
If Steve Jobs started a pop band, it would be Sure Sure. At Music Hall of Williamsburg, watching them play was like witnessing Google turn an algorithm into a hit track. There was something unsuspectingly smart about how they make songs both massively appealing and individually useful.
First and foremost, Sure Sure are a bunch of goofballs and friends. From hiding behind instruments to playing the keyboard with a hammer or bringing tray of fruit-looking maracas and a piggy bank, these guys treat the stage like their bedroom. In it, you will find their essential needs, like their instruments, and then random knick-knacks that make them smile. Yet, their ease and splashes of silliness is part of their accessibility. We all feel like a bunch of fun eccentrics, and the friends we choose, usually, become our best ones when they share in our crazy. Thus, Sure Sure are the greatest buds that have also become great musicians.

From “Giants” to “Koreatown,” the unity between them in energy and sound felt like a force; as if we were watching Scott Pilgrim VS The World. Their presence was casually cartoonish, but filled with a friendliness and love that made you like them as people. There was no malice to their vibe and verse. Songs such as, “Lie Lie Lie” and “Friends,” carried an innocence to them that alluded to the saccharine nature of pop, but much of their melodies and fuzzed chords feel like they are still amping up their hometown garage. Yet, that is the key to their charisma and what makes them “Google” smart; you have to be universal and interpersonal, all at once.

Making music massively appealing is not easy because the actual process of creating a song is, inevitably, personal. Even when you are thinking about how you want your music to be loved by others, you become entrapped by your own thoughts of what is “popular” and “love.” Yet, Sure Sure have found it by being themselves, which is why they can fit into anyone’s day. Eventually, every human being sees that they gain the most attention when they are simply being themselves For More Information On Sure Sure Click Here.
