Concert Review: The Legend of Tomás Tomás In Brooklyn

The legend of Tomás Tomás was discovered at Baby’s All Right by a crowd of Brooklynites unready to for such MYTHOS! His henchmen, whom he refused to name (FINN) was a poor, homeless plumber he taught to play keys. Personally, he fought a giant bear and found music inspiration from Silence of The Lambs. Yes, Tomás Tomás is a legend hailing from the most mysterious place on earth……..Upstate New York!

Drinking a Corona and biting his lip as if his own music left him chapped, Tomas Tomas is quick with wit but smooth with song. He lets a synth-wave linger as if it was the laser Luke Skywalker shot to bring down the Death Star; he wants it to travel so as to kill all down moods. The result worked. The crowd loved Tomás Tomás; finding him an equal to the batch of New Brooklynites coming from out of state with art degrees they hope transfer to “art jobs.” He matched the aesthetic of hope and hopeless dancing together over an electronic grid. I dug it.

Tomás Tomás – Half Nelson

Vocally, Tomás Tomás is as smooth as if sound. No emotion, even the desperation to have someone to love him, makes him flinch. He sings like an 80’s, lovelorn star even through he makes you laugh like your most sarcastic, best friend. The result was a show that felt quick while Tomas Tomas’ presence became lasting. He ignited chuckles and even dancing from the audience, of which one guy moved as if no one was looking…. but we were. His bad dancing was proof that Tomás Tomás had some good songs because the better the song, the less care about how other see you. You just want to move!
