Concert Review: Bomba Estereo Sages BRIC! Celebrate Brooklyn

For a final show, you cannot beat getting BOMBA ESTEREO!!!!!!!!! I am a MASSIVE FAN! They are iconic. From their fashion to their sound, they are like a stack of color palettes aligned at Home Depot. You walk in and discover that the “rainbow” does not cover how many shades are in this world, nor does it make it easier to choose one to design upon. In this sense, Bomba Estereo’s music captured all that it is to be alive and Latinx.

From basic, human heartbreaks to the social prejudice of having someone treat you like an alien from this earth rather than a citizen on this planet, Bomba Estereo show that music is the best resistance, especially when it makes you dance. People LINED UP like never before to see them perform because, again, they were LEGENDS playing a free show. Of course, mi gente were going to show up, and they did not disappoint. From inviting kiddos up to the stage to incessant audio issues, the night was completely memorable. Even what went wrong, felt right because Bomba Estereo make everything a “Fiesta.”

“Duele,” “Soy Yo, ”and “Fuego,” Bomba Estereo have so many hits that I track their every song to a party memory. Thus, it was bound to be fun, which is why they made their show so spiritual. Lead Singer Li gave ME LIFE with her outfits, her sage, her dance with candles, her ability to melodramatically sing pain and prosperity into every song. She is SO FIERCE!!!!!!!! The whole band is fierce, which made their performance a send-off for BRIC! Celebrate Brooklyn. For 44 years, it has given varying communities access to new artists and their own. It is not so easy to catch a Latinx artist in the states because of A) performance opportunities B) price. Thus, a free chance to Bomba Estereo was like a golden ticket handed to us by BRIC!. While their summer series has ended, their Jazz Fest is coming, and you should CLICK Here to Find out More.
