Concert Review: Verite Is The Truth As Music Hall of Williamsburg
In the surge of electro-pop that is raging music, Verite has arisen as an artist ripples through to give a vibe of humility to its adrenaline. Electro can make anyone want to go like a whirling dervish through their day. Yet, Verite simmers her pop down a few notches so that you can breathe into the very thing her name means….. Truth.
At her MHOW show, Verite rocked a golden, tigress print jacket that made her embody what synth pop is: a funky business. She stood before the crowd singing her songs and as if she were telling them. The result is a unique re-telling of lyrics and vibes that feel common to electro-pop such as in, “Phase Me Out” and “When You’re Gone”. Winded rhythms with neon digi-beats that support themes of heart-ache, rejection, and cupid’s confusing aim for love are not new topics. Moreover, Verite does nothing but steer towards them. Yet, that is the point! She goes straight for what is common and adds the Verite spin. When she is before her keys, she pounces on them as if to press a key is to replay a fight or hug with a loved one. Then, she will get up and waltz across the stage pointing the crowd and yelping her lyrics in hopes that, somehow, singing is healing. For Verite, the truth is that love is like a crisp apple: you take a bite, chew through its juicy sweetness, and try to avoid swallowing its bitter seeds and pit.
VÉRITÉ – Phase Me Out
Hit single after hit single bursted through the songstress, and enveloped the MHOW crowd with a serious fervor. With how she carried herself under the purple, red lights blazed through the stage, we all felt like we were watching a major- pop event. Thus, to muster such a big, unique aura a genre like electro-pop that, now, has grown common shows that Verite is the truth. For More Information on Verite Click Here.
