Concert Review: Your Smith Is Still Ours At Brooklyn Steel

What I love about watching Your Smith is that i have so much faith in her as an artist. Like wine, she gets better with time; learning from each show what works with a crowd. Frankly, the answer is to be genuinely bold; to somehow make the most confident version of yourself also the most authentic one, which is not easy. In our interview, Your Smith, literally, claimed how she invented her stage persona to be who she wanted to be. At Brooklyn Steel, she showed that wanting to be a star makes you one

I have always said, “The choice to be fake is a real choice!” Your Smith is far from fake, but she is a persona. We choose our approaches to life, others, and even our fashions. With her typical pants and white, wife-beater, Your Smith flashes her tattoos and grabs her crotch with a smile to promote women’s equality. You might hear empowerment be associated with her a lot, but it is not just female. She represents all the introverts dying to be extroverted. Those whose shyness mask a brilliance and creativity that can’t bubble to the surface because., frankly, it is scary to be seen.

Your Smith – Man of Weakness

For all that we wish to be in the limelight, we also wish to be hidden. We are divided, and Your Smith taps into that with her song and style. Her tracks glisten like a moon trying to decide if it considers surrounding stars as definitive to its sky. Your Smith is the moon, and her lyrics portray the relationships, especially with herself and the world, that prompt to ask, “What parts of me are mine?” Everybody is influenced by someone, and it takes growing up to realize how much you want to own from such influences. The fun part about Your Smith is that she makes maturity feel like a sparkler in your hand.

Your Smith – In Between Plans (Lyric Video)

The crowd adored Your Smith as she grooved and danced like someone that thought no one was looking. Naturally, it was charming because I would like to, as well. She speakss, sings, and acts like a benevolent rebel; a good person that realized wildness is loving yourself enough to really love others. Your Smith loved that audience.
