Concert Review: Ziggy Alberts Is Wisdom At Rough Trade NYC

You have your shows that keep you hyped, and then you have your shows that keep you grounded. At Rough Trade NYC, Ziggy Alberts was of the latter. He appears like a coronated troubadour or royal busker; going from the streets to the holy stage, with his blessed guitar, to tell us the stories/songs of his life.

Honestly, Ziggy Alberts can be an “all in one” version of Humans of New York; serving the emotional tales that reveal to us humanity is made from it feelings, and that is okay as long as you grow up/ better. While people try to refute their emotionality, Ziggy Alberts, vocally, embraces it; making songs such as, “Gone,” “Love Me Now,” and “Heaven” prove that his humor and wisdom are the keys to his music soul’s rise. Strolling through his songs and his upcoming record, Laps Around The Sun (November 9), his vocals feel like an energizing wind, but, in concert, you really absorb how much you needed this musical breeze.

Ziggy Alberts’ voice is the equivalent of looking up at the bright, blue sky after having a sentimentally blue day; you have no choice but to feel humbled, hopeful, and happy again, despite all heartbreak. An absolute charm, Ziggy Alberts’ make his concert feel like an episode of MTV Unplugged. He takes the opportunity to show the crowd something we all infer and fascinate about artists; they have hearts and they use it to make music. Hence, I wondered if our fascination with famous actors/ singers is that their artful choices are reflective of personal ones, which means to know one is to want to know more of the other.

What is refreshing about Ziggy is that he feels so un-private, but with such a plethora of stories/ songs, he can be endlessly open. You learn so much about him, while knowing you will never know all. Why? Because growing up entails you not to know everything about yourself so that you have more to excitingly discover. Hence, from “Simple Things” to “Better Off,” Ziggy Alberts was all smiles as he showed how much he has grown and will. Still, he sang to the dream of being so genuinely connected to someone, you are willing to watch them grow. For More Information On Ziggy Alberts Click Here.
