Diandra Reviews: Black Polish Will UNLEASH YUNA

I had the absolute privilege of receiving Black Polish’s Yuna record before its release on October 29th, and welp…. like Christmas, it should be your holiday prize. The concept album is described as,

¨A work of fiction and fantasy centered  around their alter-ego Yuna, a man-eating succubus who allows them to explore their most depraved instincts and hyperfeminine abilities to seduce. As the alternative project grows more dark and electronic-inspired, it symbolizes Yuna’s presence seeping her way and fully taking over both listener and audience to ask, ¨can you learn to forgive the darkest parts of yourself?¨

Welp, if that does not sound enticing, the music DOES! There is an anthemic anguish Black Polish as they try to figure out what most of us are trying to understand, as well, is our darkness to be embraced or fought? Resistance can amplify our shadows, and every song their voice billows and bellows like a person who wants to hold their demons just out of the sheer exhaustion, and at times exhilaration, of trying to repress them. As dark electronica pulses in its underbelly, overall, Black Polish proves music will always exist to fill the gap that, at times, cinema or the overwhelm of video content lacks: an original vision.
