Diandra Reviews It All- Jesse Harris Feels Like Coney Island In Aquarelle

Jesse Harris is known as a songwriter, and Aquarelle is another golden plaque to what feels like a spiritual room of deserved, trophied accolades. He has an innate capacity to make verses wander; as if they are taking a stroll on Coney Island’s boardwalk to figure out life and watch to see if others have, as well.

Coney Island is a good reference for Jesse Harris’ sound and style. Aquarelle sparkles with an everyday brightness; as if it is casually on, waiting for you to press play, whenever you want. Like Aquarelle, the beauty of Coney Island is that it stays in its mission to be light and always there for you when you wish to be the same. It is a mecca for everyone’s inner child, and, lyrically, Jesse Harris sings to the spiritual kid, in all of us, that clamors to know why we have become “this adult.”

Nostalgia is not simply about looking back on what you had or where you were in life. It is about mindfully regressing to the moments when you felt the “most you,” and that, usually, happens when you are feeling far away from your genuine heart. “Rolling By,” “Sunday,” and “Carousel” are all staple tracks for Harris’ observant quality. He sees, speaks, and creates a world that could easily be the backdrop of a This Is Us episode; giving you nuanced settings so that your character can develop into a permanent memory. Thus, once again, I and Harris fall back on my definition of nostalgia.

In life, we look back on our memories because we feel less memorable; like we are living a life even we would want to forget. Yet, from how he watercolors his melodies. as if they were the painted details of Love’s face, or from how he sings with the fluidity of a flock birds or a drove of fish migrating together to get “somewhere,” Jesse Harris takes every note in his guitar and voice to be unifying. All he wants to say is that whether you are looking back or forward, you are only witnessing life like every other human being has.
