Diandra Interviews Silver Sphere: Old Boyfriends, New Planet

I was discussing with an artist the importance of escapism, especially now. She was gushing over her love for BTS, and especially their altruistic intention with “Dynamite.” Their goal was to get the world of out of the world, and it worked. Silver Sphere has the same intention. What was her goal to create an EP, All My Boyfriends, that embodied and embraced her outcast feelings became a music fantasy and new identity for a woman that felt like an “alien” on her own planet. In our interview, she discusses how past relationships launched her cosmic-pop sound and galactic swag.

Diandra: What about relationships are you planning to say with “All My Boyfriends?”

Silver Sphere: All My Boyfriends is truly just a recounting of a pivotal experience in love I had over the two years, while I was writing the project. I wasn’t trying to make any specific statements about love, but when the project was finished, I realized I had encapsulated so many different moments and feelings from that relationship that the EP was almost depicting and entire cycle of love.

Diandra: How do you see you have grown in this record compared to yikes?

Silver Sphere: Sonically I think I’ve found a sound that I identify with more strongly on All My Boyfriends. Thematically they are similar in the sense that I always just write from the heart and write about what’s going on in my life. Although this project feels a bit more reflective than yikes. I did a lot of deep thinking about myself and the feelings.

Diandra: You have said that the EP is about your first love and heartbreak. What did Love teach you about yourself and what did heartbreak?

Silver Sphere: Love taught me about the beauty of fate. Heartbreak taught me to love myself.

Diandra: What are your deal-breakers or rather red-flags that you notice about someone you should not date/ be around?

Silver Sphere: If they mansplain music, they’re out.

Diandra: Silver Sphere is from another planet. Describe that planet to me: its people, its origins, its purpose, its whole aesthetic.

Silver Sphere: It’s a beautiful planet where everyone cries glitter. I want people to go to the Silver Sphere to feel all their emotions freely and fully.

Diandra: With the idea of looking at earth from afar, what has been the thing you most love and most hate about your earthly experience?

Silver Sphere: It’s hard to be a woman on earth.

Silver Sphere – crowd (Visualizer)

Diandra: You have said Love is an interesting concept. If you had to describe Love to an alien, who never felt it, how would you describe it.

Silver Sphere: Love is like a million little stars aligning and it feels like a dream.

Diandra: Seeing songwriting like music therapy, which of your songs have you found most healing and what did they heal?

Silver Sphere: boys are dumb! DUH! It was everything I’d wanted to say to this person for years, and I let it all out in that song.
