Concert Review: Lawrence Gives A Halloween Spectacular At Bowery Ballroom
Lawrence went all out at Bowery Ballroom for their Halloween Spectacular/ concert. Dressed as Snow White and The Seven Dwarves, the band has more energy and smiles than every Disney film put together. A very hard feat that was done through special guests, new songs, and silly string.
Lawrence – Alibi (Official Music Video)
I have unabashedly seen Lawrence three times, and while this was their best show EVER, I could see them a thousand times more. Lawrence is the essence of fun. Their funkadelic vibes were enriched by features from The Huntertones and Alan Stone, whom came out to do the BEST version I have ever heard of Paul McCartney’s “Live And Let Die”. As I looked around the costumed crowd, I could not tell what had people more intoxicated: the drinks or the music. As times flies, siblings Clyde and Gracie Lawrence understand what the people want: RIFFING! Riff it up! Gracie Lawrence nearly made heads explode from her high notes, and, the best part, is that SHE KNEW IT! Every note was followed with a sly smirk saying, “Yeah, I did that!”. Humbled, we watched as Clyde’s Randy Newman-esque voice blended with his sister’s sky-touching pitch to sing songs from their hit debut, Breakfast. “Alibi”, “Misty Morning”, and “Superficial” were painted with enough vibrant guitar melodies and saxophone spirits to remind you that Halloween is just the pre-celebration All Saints Day. At least, I was feeling holy during their introduction of new songs like, “Too Easy”; a “balledy” number that notches down their usual up-tempos to question how a lover can toss you away so “easy”. Overall, the night felt like an extravaganza of soul, sound, and sweet joy.

When I say Lawrence delivers, I AM NOT KIDDING! THREE TIMES I have seen them, and in each I felt an immense joy that, when compared, I can distinguish in memory. Now that is something special; when you can make someone say, “Everytime I see you I make a new memory of happiness”. Moreover, I cannot say I have ever seen a group of people eager to be silly-stringed by a pair! Thus, Click Here for more Information On A Group That LITERALLY Exemplifies feel good: Lawrence!
