Concert Review: LÉON Shows A Star Is Born On Stage At LPR NYC

LÉON showed the power of her voice at Le Poisson Rouge, and proved that, at times, a live show is when an artist gains justice. While her style and grace can be imbued through images and recorded tracks, to meet LÉON is to love LÉON, and, for that, you need to go to her concert. There you will find that her star is truly born on stage.
LÉON – Surround Me

Playing off her record, Leon left no lyric untouched by a riff or some vocal platform for her to leap her range. I was impressed. Her recordings, though emblems of her charm, are nothing compared to the actual thing. As she moved around setting rhythms according to her own whims and choreography, I was reminded of the “olden days”; when stars, like Selena, only had to pick up the microphone to be guided by the music spirit. There was nothing planned to Leon’s singing and dancing; it was solely felt. Absolutely every moment of LÉON’s moment on stage was whatever sentiment came across both the crowd and herself. She exuded tracks like, “Liar”, “I Believe In Us”, “Sleep Deprived”, and “Tired of Talking” with such a passion, you felt their core message of overcoming a relationship’s adversity to find a sense of love for either yourself or your partner. That type of emotional dynamics only build the brightness of LÉON’s star. You could not stop watching as she presented her music like she was climbing every mountain life put on her path, and singing “I will overcome!”. Even she laughed at her spiritual joy claiming, “It’s hard to sing sad songs, when you are so happy!”. Yet, that love for the the moment is what brought out the soul in her pop sound, and enlivened the crowd to feel like they had made the right choice: LÉON is someone to “stan”!
LÉON – Tired of Talking

LÉON’s Le Poisson Rouge show has to be one of the best I have scene because, similar to the like of Andra Day or even Lawrence, you want to bask in her voice, and her humorous adages on love and life. From “Body” to “Surround Me”, I, personally, just wanted to watch her sing about love’s madness and magic. Trust me she can, and did so during one of the best encore/ covers by mashing up Bob Dylan’s “ I Can’t Make You Love Me” with Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams”. I guess future legends understand it is always good to pay homage to present ones. For More Information on LÉON Click Here.
