Concert Review_ Petal Crush Is A Songwriting Blossom
Lately, I’ve been wondering what makes someone ¨hooky?¨ How do you as a person, or artist, make yourself feel like someone others want to catch? Petal Crush is a fascinating artist because of his growth. The years have invited more of a pop sensibility to his rocker edge, and the result is a show, at Mercury Lounge, that proved they are not much different from the other.
Rock has always appeared like an antagonist of Pop, but Petal Crush aligns with a wave of moody, guitar-led songwriters like, Twain, Dayglow, Homeshake, and Rex Orange County, that prove every genre can fuse to the latter with enough apology based, existentially pensive verses, which he tossed out with with jokes in between. In a way, he felt like he had glued his person with his artistry, and the result was a show that felt like career advice, oddly enough.
At Diandra Reviews It All, we have always prided ourselves on reviewing artist for the light they give, and Petal Crush gave us the sun. His performance style is like your best friend who pulls you out of the club for cigs and a 5 minute conversation: an emotional, warm cool down from the escapism and excitement of dancing your night away. Placing his mic upon his lip, he just makes you smile with his descriptive, dally nature. That might be why the crowd was so into him and smiling all the way: beyond being filled with friends and fans. Petal Crush gives you just enough in music and vibe to make you feel like you can either go out to Rock out or stay in and Pop away.
I think we have all, lately, been wondering what if the future of the world/ music. Frankly, I think Petal Crush (Andy Petrusky) is! People want more artistry, and that means feeling specific: as if you are so nuanced, I have to listen to you at a certain time, mood, and mindset. Yet, that is what makes a person go from simply plays to permanent play listing. For More Information On Petal Crush Click Here.
