The way Elaine sings, you just want to light a scented candle, run a bubble bath, and forget, for a moment, that THERE IS A PANDEMIC PEOPLE!  The South African songstress is so bare and carefree, she makes love feel…. well… naked. Yet, it is not, necessarily, in a sexual way, which is why she feels classic and gracious. Back in the day, R&B, Motown, and even folk music asked lovers for tenderness. In order to touch the body, you had to touch the heart and soul, first, with some seriously sweet wooing. Elaine combines that needed demand with hints of self-lovery. 

Self-love has been a recurring theme in music for the past few years, and, ironically, I think the pandemic will make artists like, Elaine, shine more because old-school is coming back. If history and music are constantly dancing, then future music will have the classic theme of “romance” and “tenderness.” In essence, now that I love me, I am, definitely, looking to see how YOU love me.
