Album Review: Pinegrove Give You A Music In “Marigold”
Marigolds are one of the most beautiful flowers you will ever see, and balance colors of orange and yellow to make its perceivers feel like they are seeing the rarest gold. Sure, it may not shine like pure gold, but, for Pinegrove, “Marigold” should be what we aim for: a brightness and balance that may not glitz under light but sure feels like its was made from it.
I have reviewed Pinegrove’s shows, and had the pleasure of hearing this album live, which is why their upcoming tour is a MUST! I 100% believe that they are a band that emotes compassion. Their lyrics and presence emanate that kindness to others manifests only if kindness matters for yourself. You got to receive to give, and tracks like, “The Alarmist,” “Moment,” “Spiral,” and “Hairpin” have Evan Stephens Hall feeling like a man willing to receive. For fans of Pinegrove, this band feels as spiritual as a Pema Chodron Book Club. We turn to them for quotes and feelings the tidy up our inner messiness, and Evan feels like the right guy to help us feel clean.
Pinegrove – “Phase” (Official Music Video)
I know that people quell at the idea of being called “soft,” but its our softness that protects us to love again, which is what Evan wants. His voice is SOFT! He emotes notes with a tenderness and calm of someone trying to douse fire: not spark it. Most music seemingly sings to either blazing the world or feeling blazed by it, but Evan’s voice leaps octaves to become light. Hence, from “No Drugs” to “Neighbor,” Evan becomes a person whom is not just saying he wants to be mindful but actually becoming it. Thus, he leaps from being the man that wants to a man that wills. It is a # millennial goal.

Sonically, Marigold zips and zooms like a field of marigolds rustling in the wind. Some chords are fast and some hooks are slowly paced to make the entire album flow like nature. The result is a record that totally fits Pingrove’s MO as the band you hear when you want to listen to your heart. For More Information Pinegrove And To Buy Marigold on January 17 Click Here.
