Album Review: Lovely The Band Sing To” EVERYTHING I COULD NEVER SAY…”

Lovely The Band is so lovely. Alright my pun section is over! Yet, this band sings to finding love, literally, at a music festival (“Coachella”). They fully grasp how love can feel forever even when as finite as a day. It is this sentiment that makes their newest EP EVERYTHING I COULD NEVER SAY…; one to hear in homage to all the sadness and absolute joy you never found the words to tell.
Lecrae – Hammer Time (Dance Visual) ft. 1K Phew

Instrumentally, the entire record plays like a set at a music festival. Yet, this set is according the emotions you will feel as a twenty-something. “Broken” and “Emotion” shows the fragility and raw openness we all have to our heart. Being twenty-something can feel like an odd emotional state. On one end, you feel so old and too “grown” to be crashing inward so much, but then, on another, you can feel as angsty as a hormonal teenager with a laundry list of house rules. For these tracks, Lovely The Band use clapping synths and chorused hooks to feel like a Millennial Gospel Service; instead of preaching to The Lord, they are preaching to a choir of youth that can feel like they need one. Yet, the odd thing about being young and frustrated is that you still feel empowered by hope and the little excitement that comes with a new romance or a night out. “Make You Feel Pretty” and “Don’t Worry, You Will” brim with the sweet tenderness of simply wanting to feel connected to either a person or a dream. Keeping to their “lovely” vibes, these tracks boom with a bass and, again, applauding keys and synths that build the band’s electric, anthemic sound. They have balanced feeling epic with simultaneously feeling at your lowest, which is, in essence, what so many twenty-somethings feel. We know we can have the world….. just not yet.

Comprised of Mitchy Collins, Jordan Greenwald and Sam Price, EVERYTHING I COULD NEVER SAY is a strong debut for Lovely The Band. Collins voice shines as one that can make you get up of your seat in joy and understanding. This band is AWARE of Millennial life, and they are bringing the electro pop to support it.
