Album Review: 6lack Writes An East Atlanta Love Letter To Breaking Hearts

6lack has been associated as the future of R&B and Hip Hop; bringing a sound that seems like it will be the one of tomorrow. Rhythmically, East Atlanta Love Letter either slowly simmers or fires up fast to reveal that love burns. When you make poor choices in how you use your heart, give it away, or, overall fail to protect it, love can turn a spirit into ash.

There is an undeniable sexiness to East Atlanta Love Letter that makes songs such as, “Pretty Little Fears,” “Switch,” “Nonchalant,” and “Let Her Go” feel like the streets you drive when you want to get somewhere. Frankly, there is nothing more refreshing than a breezy drive to wherever life takes you, but we usually hop in the car, for such rides, when we have no clue. From “Stan” to “Scripture,” you can see Atlanta’s lights and curbs zipping past you as if your mind had car windows, but, more importantly, a place it wants to go. Yet, lyrically, the problem for 6lack is the same problem all of us face spiritually: we want love, but we have no idea of the  who, what, where, and why of such a desire.
6LACK – Nonchalant (Official Music Video)

If there are two things people want, it is a their dreams come true and a lover to see them through. This a beautiful idea, relationships are more than just visions, and 6lack raps/sings to how life’s lessons can ground love’s imagination.  “Seasons,” “Unfair,” and “Sorry” have 6lack getting clear, but also fighting the bitterness that could infect our clarity. Anyone whom is confronting the guilt of their choices, understands that humanity swings from pendulums of self-denial into crystals of shame. Still, 6lack voice sheds such emotions as if they are snake skins one can remove. He truly want to be as bare as a love letter written to someone you loved but disappointed. Yet, what if you did that letter to yourself.

With a smooth futurism that beats and paces sonics like small plants growing into tall palms, 6lack’s voice is surreally magnetic. You flock to it like a moth to light because it simply radiates through all that we repudiate. No one wants to be jaded in love, but, like a jade knife, 6lack cuts through how hardened it can make us. For More Information On 6lack And To Buy East Atlanta Love Letter Click Here.
