Album Review: Amo Amo “Canta” A La Naturaleza

I love Amo Amo’s sound, and that might seem obvious. I have my go-to genres; bedroom-pop, R&B, and psychedelic rock, of which their newest EP, Canta, feels like an amalgamation of all. It is a succulent, scintillating trip that whips rhythms like cream and cuts lyrics like strawberries. The result is an EP that splashes with color and makes you sway like a palm tree in Heaven.

I got to interview Amo Amo, Stay Tuned For That! For them, Canta was a way of connecting with the earth like we are aliens upon it. Most humanity feels like it own the planet, but, at best, it is the earth that owns us. For Amo Amo, Canta was their opportunity to observe the real power-play between Mother Nature and human beings. The result is an album that feels like a benevolent, Ayahuasca trip. Suddenly, you are in the forest observing Life, and realizing you are blessed to have her, but you don’t own her.
Amo Amo – Canta (Official Earth Day Video)

In 5 tracks, Love Femme’s voice feels ethereal. She sings her notes as if they were fairies floating out of her to fly away and do ballet on a cloud. Yes, I know that is a pretty visual description, but Canta is a visual record. What makes it special is that its visuals are based on earth. From “Colors” to “Rain Song,” it is apparent that the band feels earth is more fantastical than what we think and I agree. For More Information On Canta, Out June 19, Click Here.
