Concert Review: Handsome Ghost Brings Heart To Baby’s All Right

Tim Noyes has a VOICE. Nothing more needs to be said beyond the fact that when he sings, you have to listen. His vocals give value to words, which then give value to your humanity. Hence, the lead singer to Handsome Ghost played a straight, phenomenal show of just his music at Baby’s All Right. With only an instant to marvel and thank the audience, the night felt like a live-action embodiment of putting Handsome Ghost’s music on your iPod or radio.
Handsome Ghost – Eyes Wide (Lyric Video) ft. Whole Doubts

The night was as if a giant, mystical hand pressed play, and Noyes voice radiated through. I cannot help but gush over the concise emotionality of his vocals; as if he dissected every song before performing it ons stage and cited every lyric according to sentiment. No word was left unfollowed by bubbling sentiment like, his soul was a cauldron cooking up the feelings he needs to spoon over. Yes, Noyes coddles and cuddles lyrics that describe, ultimately, what is to want to grasp the world in your palm, but have no idea how to hold yourself like in his newest tracks, “Beauty/ Bends” and “Eyes Wide”.  Yet, isn’t that the irony of life? We want to be covered in the beauty of the world, while feeling like we are its ugliness. Therefore, I enjoyed his fresh lyricism; aimed not only for the discrepancies of being in a relationship with others as much as the struggles of trying to have a relationship with yourself. Still, the winner of the night was Noyes’ voice. With light beaming beneath him, seeing him strum his guitar with passion and keel to his microphone with princeliness made him appear like a dignified man facing a purgatory judgement. The room was nearly pitch-black with neon colors sporadically flashing, but mostly emanating beneath Noyes. Thus, the combination of his hearty lyrics on trying to live life better and his warm, full-blooded vocals hit the audience like a hammer does a bell; our thoughts were left ringing.
Handsome Ghost – Weight Of It All (Audio)

While I appreciate a good, chatty audience interaction, Noyes is one that deserve little interruption, which is why the night felt like a live-stream of his music. Song after song played with a synchronized synergy from his highly anticipated, future album and his popular EP’s Steps and the Brilliant Glow. By the looks of the excited audience, you would have thought he was readying to release his third album. People sang songs like “Weight Of It All’ and “Indian summer” with their hearts open, which is exactly how Noyes performs. Genuinely grateful to see  the audience and be rising artist, Noyes could not help but marvel at his growth from doing daily gigs to be seen to now having his own tour to be watched.
