Album Exclusive: Kail Baxley’s Beneath The Bones

Coming out March 6, I got an advance of Kail Baxley’s Beneath The Bones, and it is stunning. Baxley’s voice is like hot cocoa for the soul. His vocals are like rich chocolates being dropped over arrangement that hold their own sweet earthiness. Throughout the album, Baxley sprouts his soulful, lyrical analysis on what it means to fail, rise, love, disappoints, and heal yourself. The result is a a record that feels perfect and mature for rising generations coping with the fact that life does not go according to your wants as much as how you define the act of wanting.

When asked about the Beneath The Bones’ inspiration, Kail Baxley said, “This is my gritty midtown Los Angeles record. It’s intentional, raw and honest. I was flat on my back when I wrote these songs. This is a snapshot of that time period. It’s my first fully self-produced effort and it was pieced together by a village of my greatest friends.I couldn’t have done it without their individual efforts. It was an incredible lesson on the power of community, love and now gratitude. When in doubt, throw caution to the wind and let the music guide you. It’s the only compass.”
