Concert Review: KennyHoopla Tears Up Elsewhere

As KennyHoopla said “Thank You, New York!” a guy, who had shoved into me three times without apologizing, yelled, “Thank you, Kenny!” like he knew him, The artist genuinely asked back, “Who are you?” The shoving man looked around to see who noticed his felt rejection, of which Karma and I did. I bring up that instance not to be petty or gloat, but as a symbol of KennyHoopla’s snaps, snips, and snipes over who REALLY is down with you in life.

KennyHoopla is not for the praise, but he is for the get down. He approached the Elsewhere stage with a manic chaos that would make The Joker say, “Damn!” He punches the air as if an invisible assailant is trying to mug him, but then he caresses and spits rhymes as if the ambiance turned into his lover. His capacity to “yo-yo” emotions enthralled the crowd and even scared a few. I can honestly say I have never seen anyone perfectly back-flip into a stirring mosh-pit. Yet, that is KennyHoopla! You either follow him or stand back.

Frankly, I enjoy artists that do not care about anyone’s pleasure more than their own when it comes to their work. Of course, you need to have some consideration, and KennyHoopla constantly thanked and remarked on his pride for the audience’s connection with his work. Yet, it was impossible not to invest in his presence. He dominates like a bag of adrenaline dripping through tracks like, “Lost Cause” and “Sickness.” Yet, these titles are not be ignored. All of KennyHoopla’s songs sing to the frustration of never being in the right place, right time, or right relationship. He combines his beats and verses like blood meeting heat to spark an emotional boil, which, of course, and audience would love. PEOPLE NEED TO VENT!

From his physicality to his sonic blend of Hip Hop and Emo-Punk, KennyHoopla is unbelievably unique, which, again, is why I like him. He can truly build a mass following because you will not see or hear anyone like him. He turns punk into a dance-fest, and turns dancing into a rage session. Moreover, his vocality would make the likes of Sid Vicious and Anthony Kiedis proud in showing a voice can be kinetically FIRE. For More Information On KennyHoopla Click Here.
