Album Review: NRVS LVRS Show Life Can Be An “Electric Dread”

Forget hard rock…. we need hard pop. Alright, that statement did not go far, but NRVS LVRS is pop with a gritting aura that will. Their new album’s title, Electric Dread, encompasses the feeling that drives their 12 tracks. It is an ambiance of colorful doom led by husband and wife, Bevin Fernandez and Andrew Gomez

.

Marriage never sounded better to me than in this album, and witnessing two souls complete each other in love and creativity. There is nothing more romantic than finding someone to build a world with, and Electric Dread is NRVS LVRS’ world built for you. Instrumentally, it is arranged to be a dark world where synths are like red roses that die to be reborn into black ones. There is a sense of falling from highness to lowliness in “Primer Impacto”, “Castling”, and “Lost To The Max”; each carries saccharine undercurrents that pulse like sweet poison. You never lose the sense that you have entered another, musical sphere that is “off” like, The Upside Down of Stranger Things. The ambiance intoxicates and makes the soprano melodies of Bevin something to revere. Amongst the muddled chords and murked keys behind, her vocals rise like an angel calling to you saying “Get up. There is a way out. You must find it!”. The subtle message causes Electric Dread to be oddly exhilarating like, playing a game of Zelda. You are a knight clad in “Neon Black” dealing with a “Rich Man” or listening to the tailored verses of “Sparrow & The Sea”. All in all, fantasy is what drives this duo, and makes their songs appear like ancient images of fairy tales you would find on a gothic wall.

Electric Dread is meticulously mystical, which is why I love it. I am a nerd, and when I listen to music I am divided between what I want it to tell me about life on earth and how I want it to take me to life somewhere else. NRVS LVRS aim for the latter, which is why their album is such a particular listen. It targets the instances when you want to escape, but not into bliss as much as mystery and adventure. We all have dreamed of us being a hero, but to be the savior a story means you have to battle and suffer. From “Silhouettes” to “Silver Spoons”, NRVS LVRS understand how to ignite a person’s dream and inner fighter. For More Informatin On NRVS LVRS AND TO BUY ELECTRIC DREAD CLICK HERE.
