Album Review: Oh Wonder “No One Else Can Wear Your Crown”

With a title like, “No One Else Can Wear Your Crown,” Oh Wonder is definitely bringing the positivity in their new record, out February 7. You don’t tell someone they have a “crown” and no one can touch it without trying to give them some level of uplift and encouragement. Yet, that is Oh Wonder’s MO, and this record feels like a confident amalgamation of every bit of lightness and joy this duo desires to bring.

In a world more open to singing and speaking about how anxious it can be, there are still artists that gravitate and elevate happiness’ existence. For Oh Wonder, the world can bring you down, but, if you have enough heart for yourself, it won’t ever find yours legs to pull. Thus, tracks like, “I Wish I Never Met You,” “In And Out of Love,” and “Dust” have and electronic backdrop that twinkles and twilights like a bunch of neon-colored lightbulbs going off in your head, which makes sense. Lyrically, this album takes on the enlightenments you gain when the light you already have has been dulled by others like. “How It Goes.” Still, love can be awesome

From “Happy” to “Drunk On You,” the tempo is set for Oh Wonder’s record. Its synths are bright but paced to cooled and calmed like, falling in and out of love should never change your step. This allows their lyrics to shine for their worth, while also letting the harmonies of Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht feel as succulent as ever. Talk about two voices that could make jam with how berried their vocals feel together. This quality allows their empowerment of listeners to “wear their crowd” feel genuinely strong and like something to put on the “to-do” list. Click Here. For More Information On Oh Wonder Click Here.
