Artist Close-Up: Jez Dior Brings Light To Your Darkness
Are we all depressed? Seriously? When listening to recent music, I feel more and more artists are appealing to how sad it is to live. From Yungblud to Vacationer, artists confronting bereavement, self-destruction, and the general struggles of enjoying someone else while you feel miserable as yourself. I mention these thing because Jez Dior is rising as an artist that speaks to how are darkest moments can provide our biggest enlightenments.
Whether it is the choice to go numb or how an ex left you feeling as such, his new tracks “Cocaine,” “Come And Go”, and “Kissing You,” give Jez Dior an invasive and intriguing soundscape. It is as if he is cutting himself open so as to do surgery on you: the listener. He sings and writes as if he is smoothly dragging his feet through his issues, but yet he refuses to stop moving forward on them. In some ways, that is exactly what self-healing feels like. Nobody does a tap-dance to correcting their flaws or actually sings Broadway style during a break-up (though that would be great!). This explains why Jez went for a melange of sounds, from rock to Hip Hop.

Says Dior, “Sonically, this is a new chapter in my career and signifies a new beginning as both a person and an artist,” he says. “These are some of the most personal songs I have ever released. ‘Cocaine’ and ‘Kiss You Good’ are both about a previous relationship that has taught me so much about myself. ‘Come and Go’ is about my long and ongoing tumultuous relationship with my father (punk guitar icon Steve Dior). Writing these songs has been therapeutic in so many ways, it feels really good to be showing another side of my musicality, by releasing Cocaine, my first ever non-rap single.”

While many artists “revamp” their sound or claim to be different, Jez Dior truly has changed his entire aesthetic, and I like it. There is a brooding bounce to his nature that enrapture the masses of listeners that want to feel high in sound but accompanied in their sinking sentiments. In this way, Jez Dior provides you music to heal, accompany, and, literally, move you. For More Information On Jez Dior Click Here.
