Artist Close-Up: Maesu Sings To The Power of “Amen”
When someone defines their music genre as “Cloudy,” I’m there. It may sound strange, but, after hearing Maesu, you understand why he defines himself and his new single, “Amen” as such; his sound mists over you asking to analyze what figures you see in the fog. For him, Amen was the sonic cloud that held the important figures in his life that have passed such as, his mom.
The search for inner peace is, often, portrayed as instantaneous and strenuous. Yet, for Maesu, it is constant and silencing. Thus, he sings “Amen” as if he is humbled by his own visions and the love he feels for the people he sees within them. The idea that true love quiets you is beautiful and explains why “Amen” has undercurrent of holiness to it. Sonically, it feels like an electro-hymn; averting religiosity but completely landing in spirituality. With a voice that feels like chills are being breathed into notes, Maesu coolly vocalizes the urgent pain to reconnect with Life after someone you love is no longer connected.
Do I believe in Maesu…..100% YES! Sonically, he is “now;” capturing a wave of sounds that ask you to be still while the song’s verses make your mind walk. When describing what inspired his song, Maesu had a clear vision. “The record was inspired by my mom passing Summer 2017; it’s a hypothetical of reconnecting with our loved ones in the next life. Revealing what would we catch up on & how we would self-reflect on our growth.” Featuring two exceptional Hip Hop artists, Kari Faux and Supa Bwe, Amen feels like a beautiful stepping stone for Maesu in furthering that there is a specialness to his music. He has an “X-factor” that not only will take him far, but makes you hope, for your music-loving sake, he goes farther. For More Information Maesu Click Here.
