Artist Review: Amy Schumer

Comedy is meant to lighten a situation. It is the choice to laugh at tragedy rather than cry over it. It does not mean that pain is not felt. On the contrary, nothing can avoid pain. Yet, laughter is the human attempt to ease hurt and elevate suffering into needed joy. Few comediennes take the initiative to heal suffering into both joy and wisdom. Amy Schumer is one of those comediennes.
While comedy lightens a situation, greatness enlightens it: Amy Schumer has done that. If you have not been watching season 4 of Inside Amy Schumer than you are missing one of the best comedies and educational shows on television. It may sound like the two cannot mix, but  the blend is more welcoming than you think. Who does not think openly and clearly when happy? Inside Amy Schumer makes viewers happy and minds expanded.

Whether she uses comedic nuance to approach the madness of gun violence in America or all out absurdity to discuss the unfair treatment of women in politics, Schumer always uses brilliance to assure the message is received. As she grows more into her career, she has taken the initiative to be mindful and kind to others’ causes. The confidence and candor of which she approaches this season reveals the awesomeness of Schumer’s being. While fame can close someone off from the world, Amy Schumer has used it to open herself and others to its needs. Anyone whom promotes virtue through laughter, is a talent worth watching.

Inside Amy Schumer plays on Comedy Central Thursdays at 10pm. Make sure you watch so that you can laugh, learn, and live to love life and others even more.

Thanks Amy!
