Concert Review: Angus And Julia Stone Are Music Yoga At Warsaw
When Angus and Julia Stone played Warsaw NYC, I could have snuggled into my feelings like they were a stack of warm blankets on a cold day. They are the sonic resolution to all those instances when you said, “I want to be in my feelings!?”. You may laugh, but we have all hide those moments when we desired a good cry, nice quiet, a meditatively beautiful sight, or second of sentimental serenity. From the minute they opened with a trumpet, the angels gathered and a night of smooth, calm began for the crowd.
Angus & Julia Stone – Chateau
It is rare when someone says they had a “Chill Friday”. It seems so contrast to the hype of this day with terms, literally, coined “Friday feeling” like the day signifies mass escape. Yet, Angus and Julia brought a different level of escapism, which should have been expected after reviewing/ listening to Snow. Hearing songs such as “Make it Out”, “Chateau”, Snow”, and “Heart Beats Slow” made me feel at ease, and open to whatever emotion the Aussie pair siblings muster. Hence, having a back-drop of colorful, nature pictures like, the moon, sunsets, woods, or a lost wolf, worked perfectly with their sonic vibes. Again, their music is like mental yoga; stretching and positioning your brain to enter your core spirit and elevate through their harmonies. Both have been blessed with such silken vocals that it is no wonder their music does not play; it drapes over the atmosphere.
Angus & Julia Stone – Snow
After seeing their show, I truly believe God made Angus and Julia siblings so that they can sing together and gift the world with some of the most mellowing harmonies I have ever heard. With little chatter, their concert felt like a quick, uplift; like an expresso for the soul, which is what meditation is, technically. Their music quiets you to get existential about romance and love. Personally, I always marvel at the dreaminess of this sentiments, and where it will take you if you let it guide you.
