Concert Review: A$AP Ferg Gives A Hip Hop Rager At Terminal 5
“I Need Y’All MOTHERF**KERS TO RAGE TONIGHT!” yelled A$AP Ferg to his Terminal 5, home-town audience of crowd-surfing, bra-removing, mosh-pitting, drinking and cursing, “depression-inclined” personalities; claiming that his show was for those that needed to let that SH*T out. He wanted people to toss beers and bodies into the air, which happened, but, in that moment, my life flashed before my eyes. I freaking KNITTED ON MY WAY TO THE SHOW and saged as I got dressed. Yet, the most important epiphany I had, was that Hip Hop has become a rage/rave culture… I’m SHOOK!
I should of seen it. From Lil Uzi Vert to Travis Scott, Hip Hop is not just fighting oppression….it is fighting depression! Similar to Beast Coast, entering Terminal 5 was like entering a Mecca of Cool. As I said with Flatbush Zombies, Mitch McConnell would have died at seeing so many white boys look at A$AP Ferg like the very definition of awesomeness: a confident, black man with neon-green hair, painted nails, and a jump-suit that looked filled with all my girl scout badges. To the audience, he was their sage. He was like the music embodiment of their heart valve; he asked them to move, They Did! Jump off the stage! OKAY! Get Naked And Start Praying To XENU! Alright, he didn’t ask that last part, but, if he did….. it would have happened.

A$AP Ferg’s ability to control the audience by acknowledging how hard it is to control ourselves was brilliant, and felt like a light-switch turning on for people to LOSE THEIR SH*T! I got moved around so much, across that audience, I thought I was an unclaimed Amazon package: just left on the floor with no visible address. Yet, that IS rage/rave culture; to join the crowd is like joining a cluster of cells constantly moving and uniting to breed a sense of life. Still, A$AP Ferg was the nucleus, and HE KNEW IT! Frankly, I love power; it is why I loved his show and Beast Coast’s, even though I hate moshing and beer cans always land on me. I feel like a traffic cop quietly reciting safety regulations when I go to their shows; just hoping no one gets hurt. Yet, the point of A$AP Ferg’s show is that, if you go, it is because you know hurt, but you still want to know a FREAKING GOOD TIME!

Ferg is absolutely carefree; dominating the stage amongst a barrage of so many colorful lights that a rainbow would say to itself, “I need to do better.” He was the essence of freedom; pocketing into himself an energy and rap flow that made his viewers believe he could free them from the many times their insecurities chained them. The result was a show that was both light and LIT! For More Information On A$AP Ferg Click Here.
