Artist Close-Up: Warner Records Is Prepping Gold With Chika & Diana Gordon

When I say that I love Chika….. it is because I LOVE CHIKA! Playing a private show, the room was already filled with open ears and open hearts, but Chika does more than leave you open. She leaves you cleansed. She is funny, friendly, feisty, and proof that the latter qualities are necessary to be a virtuous artist. Born on March 9, even the host noted that she felt destined to change Hip Hop much like Biggie. Frankly, I can’t deny the fate.

CHIKA – Can’t Explain It (feat. Charlie Wilson) [Official Music Video]

Vocally, Chika is so smooth, she feels like Easy-Listening decided to join the rap game. While the Biggie comparisons were rampant because she was born the day he died, I thought she was more comparable to another, noted legend: Tupac. Yes, that is a heavy honor, but I say that because of her ability to spread message of love and kindness while also being a sure-fire win at a cypher. She can both elevate your being or extinguish your arrogance, and I fell in love. I am all for the Chikaolgy; or rather the wisdom she intersperses between her witty verses. I have seen Diana Gordon grow so much as a performer, and I 100% believe in her talent. She can do any genre, and her upcoming music is setting her up for some 90’s indie-rock, Alanis Morrissette vibes. She is about to Jagged Little Pill the world, and I know that people will eat it up. She has rich tones and a surprisingly high octave that allow her to toss lyrics either in the gutter or to God. She grinds and graces her verses depending on their emotional weight, and, that night, she had a lot of weights to lighten.

Diana Gordon “Rollin” [Official Lyric Video]

Opening up the crowd about the crazy stalker that is threatening her, Diana Gordon performed through her very valid fears. She was magnetic, sweet, friendly, and honest about her anxieties. I have seen Diana countless times, and she is always the friendliest and most open artist with the crowd, which is I felt bad that she was suffering in a situation that would leave anyone feeling more reserved. Yet, she sang gorgeously and outshined most performers who could not even brighten a stage with or without a stalker. I am praying for you Diana Gordon because, if that show was any indication, your star is destined to rise. For More Information On Diana Gordon Click Here.
