Concert Review: Death Cab For Cutie Rides In King’s Theatre
As the entire King’s Theatre sang Death Cab For Cutie’s “I Will Follow You Into The Dark,” my spine tingled with the chilling beauty of a good song. The moment was so simple it felt like God. The only need was music, and Ben Gibbard stood with his guitar and voice like a guide into the the ups and downs of living.
Since their very beginning, Death Cab For Cutie’s music career has been built on deconstructing life. Breaking down the instances and ideas that rush together to make a your story a history; one filled with inherited loves, sufferings, and philosophies. By now, Death Cab For Cutie have had so much music released that, even though they are touring for Thank You For Today, they cannot do a show without scoping their catalogue. They have reached a point in their career where they have done so much, the can tour forever because the memories they have given their listeners makes them become constant audiences?

“Soul Meets Body,” “I Will Possess Your Heart,” “I Dreamt We Spoke Again,” and “60’s & Punk,” had the band jumping from classics to “newbies.” Melodically, every song flowed into the other, with Ben Gibbard swinging his guitar and waltzing his feet with a razored focus. If their music was about the griefs and gains in life, then all he had to do was let the music speak. So it did! His voice exuded a tenderness that made moments touchable and tangible; they no longer were replays in your mind but were, instead, worded fabrics in your hand. The result was a show that felt present and timeless; completely coddling you from the world by letting you listen to its heartbeat.

Being at King’s Theatre was the perfect fit for Death Cab For Cutie. This concert hall has a history and architecture that is as golden as the leaves and art adoring its wall. You could get lost in every gorgeous detail you find: from its carpets to its ceilings. Thus, for that night, nuance reigned in music and place. Moreover, I was given the opportunity to try King’s Theatre’s Ambassador program, and it was exceptionally good. Delicious catering, a great happy hour, in-seat service, and candy and popcorn galore, the package was a perfect expenditure. You got great seats, and had the opportunity to both live in luxury, but also observe the lux of King’s Theatre as an edifice. By having your own room, you see how lovely this place is and how it deserves to house music. For More Information On Death Cab For Cutie And King’s Theatre.
