Concert Review: DYLN Will Go Onto Better Things After Delancey
Back in the day, all you needed was talent, and “the machine” or a team of people would handle your image transformation. Nowadays, you need the image, talent, and purpose before you even get an agent. I mention this difference because you have to respect DYLN’s game. From the minute, she entered the Delancey stage, you knew you were getting someone that have a vision for their self, and that “drive” is the key to why she is a must see.
Personally, I love people with ambition, and I know I am not the only one flocks in attraction and attention to someone who has goals and the will-power of a thousand men to achieve them. As DYLN entered the stage, you could feel her sense of purpose. This was a woman who believes she is star, and the sheer confidence enamored me. Every note she held in songs like, “Hold” or “Stonewall” said “ Oh, you did not know I can sing? Well, now you do!”. If she ever had a hater, he threw himself in front of traffic because you cannot hate the sheer ownership she has over herself on that stage, which is why I mentioned the statement above. In the current music industry, there is an expectation that a person understand her art can be from the heart, but that heart better sell, as well. The bridge between marketability and mindfulness is not easy to make, but you cannot shake the feeling that DYLN truly is a megastar waiting to happen. She is the “look” and “life” that can blaze the radio and a concert. Songs, like “Piece of You” and “Better Things” showed that DYLN is 100% talented, and can serve juicy notes like a set of grapes on a silver platter. Yet, again, it is not her talent that has me marking her as one to watch. It is her ambition!
There is something enrapturing to watching DYLN envision her name in lights at MSG. As she danced, bounced, and tossed lyrics like they were world famous quotes, you could see she is not here, on this earth, to stay put or settle for small lounges. Hence, she treated The Delancey stage like it was The Staples Center. She was her own opener, headliner, and MC as she played every role to amp the crowd up to 10. There was no “resting” or just “standing and smiling”. If DYLN could have transformed everyone into their own, personal rocket-ship and launched them into space she would have happily. Her interpersonally with the crowd in assuring they were having a good time mixes with her strong presence was enough to make her show a win. Yet, it was like plucking the sweetest strawberry to have an electro R&b sound that gives you the chills of classic R&B and the thrills on modern-day electronica. There were, definitely, throwback Aaliyah or early Jojo vibes during tracks which only furthered DYLN can take over the world with her sound and spirit. For More Information On DYLN Click Here.
