Concert Review: Everything Everything Are Literally Everything At Gramercy
You ever feel like you have randomly found a cult? No! Just me! I say this because I liked Everything Everything’s music before their Gramercy Theatre show, but seeing their fans gather with buttons and comfy shoes to dance, like their music was the sun, had me surprised. It was as if I had walked into a hidden gold-mine, and everyone said, “Oh, didn’t you know? Everything Everything has been here forever!”.

While vocals are shared amongst dreamy harmonies that are so electric they could revive Frankenstein, Jonathan Everything rises as the lead vocalist and sheer lover of crowds. He danced and sung his heart out as if to say, “We are everything!”, but not in an arrogant statement for his band. Instead, it was in celebration of the idea that every person in that crowd was apart of the universe. Tracks like, “Desire Desire”, “Fever Dream”, and “Regret” were my particular favorites because they had an “old-school”, U2 vibe; when synths and acoustics would splash together as Bono yelped a verse of love. At Gramercy, Jonathan was our Bono, and he felt every verse like it was biblical. He closed his eyes, aimed for a high note, and reached it with sincere passion and prowess. Moreover, he rarely looked at the audience. He would turn and tilt his head to the side as if we were too bright for him to witness directly. The dynamic only added to Everything Everything’s exuberance.
Everything Everything – Regret
Some bands aim for big, and I have to respect that, which is why I like them. In a world, where positivity and realism are not often associated, Everything Everything’s music is about realizing that the best things in life come through choices. Sometimes, we presume that good things just happen, and life simply hands over a better day. Yet, from “Don’t Try” to “Get To Heaven” or “Choice Mountain”, Everything Everything did not only use their electronic-pop experimentally, but also spiritually. It was as if they boomed and beamingly arranged their songs with their concerts in mind; so, when it came time to present them, they would be like time-warps for their viewers to recall and reassess the importance of their will in making their wants real. Hence, Everything Everything is the band to see when you want to dance at the idea that you can dance if you want to! For More Information On Everything Everything Click Here.
