Concert Review: Glorietta Unites At Rockwood NYC

You ever see a group of people, and feel that they like each other. Something in their dynamic, whether it is a relationship or a friendship, sends off the energy of genuineness. You can’t describe it but you know it. Maybe, that is the definition of authenticity, and it is something that coursed through Glorietta’s Rockwood show.

Now, Glorietta is not some random woman. Actually, she is a band of guys and a lady. While their music origin story, by all means, can be described like everyone else’s, a group of friends who love tequila and songwriting decide to make a group, they are not just any batch of buddies. Glorietta consists of Matthew Logan Vasquez Noah Gundersen, Kelsey Wilson, David Ramirez, Jason Robert Blum, and Adrian Quesada. Yet, frankly, you would think they are a pack of college students as they climb amps, sit on the floor to harmonize for each other, and take shots throughout their show. They are filled with life as they sing songs that encourage you to go through the “lonelies”, get a little crazy, and love as much as you can.

From “Heat Stroke” to “Easy Come Easy Go,” the crowd packed in to see these distinguishable talents unite like a Texan Country version of The Avengers. Each of them could sell out their own show at a much bigger venue, but Rockwood carries a sweet intimacy to it that played their “jam session” vibes. The reason you will love Glorietta is that they are superb, Grammy Award winning artists that laugh on stage about who is the designated driver, rib each other with jokes like siblings, and then give you a guitar roaring Garth Brooks cover. You truly cannot find a more charming group of bandits that can, literally, ignite a crowd make-out session mid setlist. Their true talent is showing that the wildest thing about humanity is its capacity to love, be creative, and laugh while doing both.

Frankly, I can go off about how Kelsey Wilson’s voice sounds like a nice, summer breeze or Matthew Logan Vasquez and Noah Gundersen feel like two best friends with bourbon voices or how each member will feel like your family by the end of the night. Yet, why go off on something that can only be experienced. What I will say is that Glorietta is one of the most exciting new acts of country music because they are fun. Their show is a reminder that music is not only about impressing or emotionally pulling a listeners’ soul, it is also about including them to feel alive. For More Information On Glorietta Click Here.
