Concert Review: Ivy Sole Has A Purpose At S.O.B’s
From the minute the coy singer entered the stage, you could tell she was a woman with messages. Through her shyness, she emanated a vibe and demeanor of someone with a vision; a person that sees the importance of a verse’s poetry. Thus, she marked S.O.B’s as the beginning of a really great career.
I AM SO EXCITED BY ALL THESE NEW ARTISTS! I am like a music mama that wants every up and comer to rise to a point of “untouchability”, but I do not mean that in terms of ego as much as safety. From “Rooftop” to “Taken,” Ivy discusses the spiritual and systemic woes of being an open heart. There seems to be a “hidden contract” for loving, good people on this earth, of which the universe promises them love while so many people, on earth, promise to challenge and threaten it. For every lover there is a hater, and Ivy Sole has the deep, philosophical nobility to express this truth through sheer bops.
Vocally, Ivy Sole is smooth, but, stylistically, she is smart. If Kendrick Lamar and Noname had a baby, it would be Ivy Sole. She has the cool, smooth vocality and imaginativeness of Noname matched with Kendrick’s intelligent delivery of gut-punching fears, hopes, and trials. Her capacity to show beauty and self-doubt will be constant dance partners, in our lives, is what makes her one to watch, and turns her show into a more pensive, poetry jam laced with Hip Hop beats. The result is an artist that furthers Hip Hop is can be a scholarly genre.
A UPenn graduate (YAAAASSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), Ivy Sole is impressive in her thoughts, and I find that the most important thing you can present about yourself as an artist/ person. Her rhythms breeze as she flows lyrics that wrap your mind with human nature. WHOA! Thus, get ready for Ivy Sole; SHE IS COMING! For More Information On Ivy Sole Click Here.
