Concert Review: Jeremy Zucker Comes Thru At Webster Hall
When I told my friend I was going to see Jeremy Zucker without her, I can only describe her reaction as:
I had seen Zucker before, and noted it was like seeing the “male Billie Eilish;” a one man show that managed to make human feelings into sonic vibes or as she would describe him: a total mood. Yes, Boomers’ heads would explode trying to figure out what it means to be a mood, but Zucker lives and breathes off the Gen Z/ Millie concept. It is the idea that all your feelings can be bottled into a certain aesthetic and momentous swag. Somehow, you, a mere mortal, can embody the vibes of a certain community, which Zuckker did at Webster Hall.
Jeremy Zucker, Chelsea Cutler – you were good to me
Between “comethru” and “all the kids are depressed,” it hit me that Jeremy Zucker is coming on a new wave of young, pop stars that may not be as glamorous as the old school format but do feel as big. Yes, he had the lighting effects and visuals, but there is an inherent intimacy to his spirit that relates to a generation, unlike any other, in being open with its feelings, struggles, and desires to connect. Sorry Boomer Hippies, but this rising youth has you beat with its dreams of peace and love, of which Jeremy taps into it with subtle delicacy, no pretension, and easy capacity to work with fellow artists, like the present Chelsea Cutler, to emote love for all. In essence, it is not cool to feel uncool, but it is cool to make music about it.
Jeremy Zucker – oh, mexico (Lyric Video)
The crowd sang every line to Zucker’s songs as if he had written them using their hearts. He is altogether accessible: a key ingredient to new, pop stars. His humor is sweet and unmalicious; matching a voice that is light and unbothered. Even when he is singing to his own battles with isolation, he sounds as welcoming as a care bear. I know this will sound strange, but Zucker’s performance encompassed something I say a lot but forget to realize: people really want to be apart of something that makes them better or, at least, feel that way. Zucker is gaining a massive following because, in a way, he has seen that. For More Information On Jeremy Zucker Click Here.
