Concert Review: Johnnyswim Are Couple Goals At Webster Hall

“I’m Dead!” said one young woman to her friend. Her response, “They are perfect!” Towards Johhnyswim, their fans feel a sense of ownership and protective over Abner and Amanda, of which most felt comfortable to call them by their first names. Yet, this married couple do NOT have any airs to them. They love the closeness their audience feels towards them, which is why theu, literally, went to the center of the crowd to croon tracks that are wedding songs for fans.

Looking upon the audience of couples and singles open to being coupled, I can absolutely confirm that Johnnyswim are on a billion playlists titled, “Love.” For their fans, they were a human incarnation of the utmost, marital dream; to have your love make literal music. It is a gorgeous, Shakespearean thought that drew upon the delicacy of Johnnyswim, and tracks like, “Flowers,” “Amanda,” “Touching Heaven,” and “Live While We’re Young.” For them, love is freedom because you have to be fearless to love. It is completely sensical in the sense that no one has ever loved what they feared or feared what they loved.

Johnnyswim – Bridges (Official Video)

I have had the pleasure to see Johnnyswim before, which is why I was excited to see them again. They are so light. They have such genuine, good energy as persons, and Abner Ramirez is walking wit. Seeing their smiles and catching their jokes, alongside their music, makes their show feel repeatable. They are “that friend” that you can go without seeing for awhile, and then you meet them for coffee and laugh as if you visit them everyday. They deliver songs such as, “Marietta,” “Diamonds,” “Home,” and “Bridges” with such gorgeous ease that it made the audience understand why love is so epic; it is the most natural way to be. Amanda and Abner are in love, and their voices emanate this.

Johnnyswim | First Try (Official Music Video)

Amanda and Abner have a ying and yang vocality; she carries a feathery lightness and he is gruffed with rustic notes. When they unite, it is like sky and soil harmonizing to try and figure a new element. The results left their audience completely mesmerized with beauty and hope. Yes, the crowd came to Webster Hall because they adored Johnnyswim’s romantic music, but they also went because they, too, hope to live a romance for the ages. In this world, that is a beautiful hope to have. For More Information On Johnnyswim Click Here.
