Concert Review: Kate Nash Empowers Ladies At Irving Plaza

I could write a Feminist Manifesto after seeing Kate Nash at Irving Plaza. It took awhile for her to realize her independence as an artist may not have been her choice but it was her best course. With a packed crowd of ladies ready to feel empowered, Nash provided femme pop galore…HER WAY!

I couldn’t help but feel like I was watching Bridget Jones, Lilly Allen, and Katy Perry unite to create the fierce Ms. Nash. Yes, I know I added Bridget Jones to that pop-list, but Nash combines glamor with insecurity. Similar to the cinematic icon, her lyrics play like the heartbreaking, diary pages and repeated anxieties women tell themselves. It is as if she has added sonic glitter all the negative words you have said in front of the mirror. The result is an ambiance that felt like a spiritual purge for every woman singing along. Thus, Ms. Nash is both fun and foundational to building your confidence.
Kate Nash – Life In Pink

From the beginning, the show breezed with a feminine mystique. Nash’s “all lady band” immediately impressed with their high energy and the rarity of such an image/ message. It is always moving to see a batch women, together, living their best life and promoting for you to do the same. Thus, when Kate came out in what appeared to be a pink, moon cadet outfit, I felt like I was living my most iconic moment. She literally splashed across the stage with a light-up moon above her, which made tracks like, “Life In Pink”, “Always Shining”, “We Get On”, and “Foundations” twinkle as if they were more than Kate’s songs; they were her superpowers.
Kate Nash – Agenda

The way Kate lunged into the crowd, like a superhero, and smiled, as if life could not be brighter, moved everyone. She wanted and declared that this night would radiate with good energy, especially because it was the end of her tour. Hence, from “Mouthwash” to “Nicest Thing”, her voice columned notes as if they were unbreakable, golden pillars: allowing her lyrics, of feeling lost and found, to become her listeners’ strength. Thus, Kate Nash’s superpower is that she makes women feel good about themselves. For More Information On Kate Nash Click Here.
