Concert Review: Lonr Gains A Following At SOB’s
Lonr. gave the briefest set I have ever seen, but that did not mean it was unimpressive. To the contrary, it was like a burst of good. Within 20 minutes, he got the party going and walked off after starting a mini-mosh pit, dirty dancing with a fan named Annie, and lying his heart on the line with verses that acknowledged the tear within any human being: can I party like a star while attaining my higher self? Yeah, that is pretty deep for a guy with lyrics like, “Actin’ like a fool, lovin’ that shit/ Tom Cruisen, it’s a movie.” Yet, that is the point he can get you lit and enlightened, and play to both sides of our heart’s coin.
Sometimes, I want to get down and other times I want to elevate like a guru. The rise of a great artist is the one that can play to both side, which is why I love artist like Jhene Aiko and enjoyed Lonr’s performance. A person can be “multiple people” in one because we can run through a million situations, moods, and feelings within a day. Yet, the one vibe that should never be disqualified from you life is the desire to love and have fun, which Lonr did both. He was so energetic in his rap delivery, in how he flowed throughout the stage and into the room, and interacted with fans that wanted a piece of him. (I’m looking at you, Annie!” Lonr. – A.M.
All in all, Lonr did what you are supposed to do as an artist, especially if you are rising, which is be memorable. You have to prove yourself to the crowd that you are worth following and investing in as much as listening to. Lonr did all of that in 20 minutes.
