Concert Review: My Brightest Diamond Shines At Rough Trade

My Brightest Diamond reminds me of “that friend” you have that, whether you like it or not, gives you the most positive advice. Believe it or not, people are protective of their pain. Something about our suffering can make us feel more righteous than our healing; in part, because most humans do not know how to heal. Yet, positive advice is the strongest advice, and if MBD could give you one message through her show, especially at Rough Trade, it is to clear yourself.

If Jesus said, “Heal Yourselves,” My Brightest Diamond is telling you to “Clear Yourself!” Tracks like, “Be Brave,” “White Noise,” “Rising Star,” and “I Have Never Loved” prove that life is doesn’t get better until your get better about life. (WOW! That is positive!) Yet, think about it! Think of the many times you asked Life to be better towards you or to give you some slack, and Life kept on being itself. So, for My Brightest Diamond, if Life can be unstoppably itself then so can she, which why explains her show runs on magic. From a floating orb to an audience-made choir, MBD displays the wonder of human freedom.

My Brightest Diamond – It’s Me on the Dance Floor

Whether she is dancing around with a glittery, silver jacket, boxing negativity from the air, or interchanging between instruments, MBD treats the stage like its her private world you are invited to. She is such a sweetheart, which is displayed in the giddiness and spontaneity of her demeanor. She appears like a child prodigy; young at heart, prolific in mind. Thus, If someone told me My Brightest Diamond is handling the next season of Cirque Du Soleil then I would buy tickets for every show. She splashes with vision and tenacity; making you feel like she could helm a bigger, more fantastical production. Yet, instead, she relies on her her energy and her voice to take you where she wishes we all could go: utopia.

MY BRIGHTEST DIAMOND | Dorian (Official Video)

From “Dance Floor” to “Pressure,” My Brightest Diamond’s voice hits like sage. She belts out notes that bring clarity because her mission is to bring out your inner bold. The part of you that is shamelessly fun, talented, smart, and kind. Hence, why I mention that she is a show for the positive person ready to get happy; you will feel healed by her.
