Concert Review: Meg Mac Riffs Through Rockwood

Meg Mac can SANG! At Rockwood, she was riffing her voice like a pilot; completely handling her craft. It was amazing to watch because it was breeze for her. The young Aussie had packed a room full of New Yorkers that understood what it was to sing to “Hope” while not really having it.

For many, 2019 feels a year filled with lions, and Meg Mac sings for those that don’t really care to bite. For the big hearts, that really do want to be filled with love, but find themselves having to many disappointments to do so. Lyrically, she approaches such a disillusionment with the breathe of youth; never presenting a pain without a slight hope that its cure is somewhere around the corner. The room, obviously, related as human beings, and felt charmed by Meg’s cool demeanor. Yet, no one could hit notes quite like her.

Did I mention Meg Mac can SANG? She hits notes as if she has a set of darts in her her hand and the expertise to hit her target range every time. The result a lot “WOOH!” moments, in her show, as you become impressed with her tenacity and prowess. Moreover, it allows tracks like, “Something Tells Me,” “Give Me My Name Back,” and more new tracks from her upcoming album to allude to the theme I mentioned above. For Meg Mac, you have to take reign of your pain so that you do not give your heart to those that caused it. Thus, it seems befitting that she wails, whimpers, and willows her notes like the Tree of Life in the middle of a wind storm; it may get shook but it is, certainly, not torn from place.

Meg Mac TORE THE ROOF off of her performance, and the best part is that it was a simple act. With her little sister in tow, whom is, probably, the best harmonizer I have seen, her music felt like pop radio hits presented as folk jams. Somehow, she gave us bubblegum galore under the veil of a soulful woman opening her heart and humor through song. For More Information On Meg Mac Click Here.
