Concert Review: Mobley Who Is Mobley You At Bowery
Let me just say that New York is TOTALLY freaked out by the Coronavirus, and you can feel it through the air. Trains are vastly emptier, and, at Bowery, I have never seen more people keep distance from each other. At concerts, people are willing to fight like lions versus hyenas for that one inch closer, to the artist, they SWEAR will give them a better view. Yet, things felt quieter, which is why Mobley’s natural tenaciousness came like a revival of spirits.
A one man show, Mobley was floating through instruments like a he was in a cooking competition; he had to bake a cake, filet a mignon, create a vegan sushi, and serve pasta within 30 minutes. Or course, all these foods are code for guitars, drums, keyboards, and a synthesizer. Yet, his heated passion at heating ours was welcomed in a city that is known for its life but is now contemplating whether it should even leave home by day.
Frankly, on one hand, you don’t want to panic, but, on another, you don’t want to be “that idiot” who went with the sniffles and infected the world. Such tensions, played into the urgency of Mobley’s performance.Introducing new songs, Mobley’s track, upon listen, feel like spiritual rock; as if he is pouring his soul into his guitar so that it can rage in sound and dance in rhythm. Thus, he makes you move in every way, body, mind, and soul, while lyrically questioning why the world is stuck.
Mobley – Nobody’s Favourite (Official Video)
For Mobley, the world needs more kindness and love, which is the topic upon every tongue. Yet, Mobley also sees a humanity that loves to talk about how we all should be more virtuous, to each other, without being the change, itself. Thus, as his rich voice riffed and roared, his verses felt like an awakening of hearts in fear of their body’s health. Ultimately, Mobley gave a show that explains why New York’s night-life never dies or rather should always live for opportunities like seeing him. For More Information On Mobley Click Here.
