Concert Review: Morgxn Shows Love Is A Protest At The Box
I have seen Morgxn a few times, and each time he outdoes himself. For a man that sings to learning to love yourself and others, watching his growth, as an artist, feels empowering because you know he is growing as a person. For Morgxn, there is no disconnect between music and morality, which is why he presents love as the greatest protect to hate.
Morgxn’s fanbase is booming, and I truly believe his rise is kismet. It seems fated, that during this political climate, his style, stories, and songs against prejudice, particularly towards the LGBTQ community, come forward. After all, if the argument is that we should all think freely, then Morgxn’s show discusses how we should all think lovingly. Such a sentiment was felt when he talked about losing his dad, and dedicated the song “Vital”, the same name of his debut album, to ask everyone to making sure their loved ones know how much they mean to them.

Whether he was dropping to the floor to hit a high C or going to the piano to serenade, Morgxn, as a performer, has a dualistic nature. Similar to Bobi Andonov, he can be a pop-legend using the space and his body to summon the crowd’s energy to him. He, literally, puts his hand out and clutches the air/ ambiance as if to say, “I am your center”. Yet, there is another, more vulnerable side to his performance, that rises when he goes acoustic. All he needs is his keyboard and higher range to pierce stifled hearts into being moved. He makes it clear, that whether he is making a bop or a ballad, everything he does is because he wants to give love as much as receive it.

I have no doubt in my mind that Morgxn is going to continue to rise. With songs like “Translucent” and “Carry The Weight” getting more and more plays, he is proving that dancing and healing are not, necessarily, separate. Moreover, he shows that you can create a song that makes you feel good as well as be good. In a world in need of more compassion, that is an excellent reason to be on the dancefloor.
