Concert Review: Next City Premieres To New York City

With only their second show, Next City set up that they are here to ROCK. “Welcome To The Jungle” could be their theme song because of their  “Guns N Roses” level of energy. They tap into the blurs between mischief and motivation; when all you want to do is live on the edge, in part, because you feel tipped over it.

NEXT CItY – Blue Star (Official Music Video)

Songs such as, “Blue Star” and “Tell Me,” had lead singer, Samuel Larsen, inching towards the edge of the audience raking his voice as if notes were emotional leaves he had to crunch, gather, and pick up. His voice has a quiet roar quality to it like beneath lied a lion ready to hunt. It was clear the band had been influenced by prior, rock greats; classic stars that encouraged their audience in presence to live as if the moment was wild. In a time, when being present is the set goal, classic rockers seemed to believe the only times you could “still an instance” is by moving, shaking, and even sinning like eternity did not exist. For awhile, Next City achieved such a “forever” notion.

“Tell Me” by NEXT CItY.

As they went through their set,I kept on thinking, “This is your second show? Really?” It was incredibly impressive, in part, because, as bands grow, they become better and more expansive in sound and themes. If they feel massive now then Next City has the opportunity to go colossal in terms of energy/ arenas. They have the charm and the delivered passion that makes playing a guitar or bashing a drum feel like “ cure for all.” The way they played their instruments you would have thought they were mining for gold or diamonds, of which their sonics certainly shined. The result was a show that introduced them to new fans because they, certainly, got them. For More Information On Next City Click Here.
