Concert Review: Public The Band Go Public At Webster Hall

Talk about a trio of guys that perform as if they were headlining an arena. From covers of Britney Spears to diving into the crowd to ignite cheers, Public The Band were so lively on stage that you could tell they felt alive. The Webster Hall stage was not simply their home but their temporary taste of Heaven.

Whether the crowd came to see Public did not matter because they were there for them by the end. Each member embraces their moment like a king would his crown. I am being SO SERIOUS! Their brief set felt like a trip to Disney; their faces lit up with a childlike glee, which might explain why they climbed on speakers and passed out high-fives to crowd-members like Mickey Mouse at the Magic Kingdom entrance. Their ability to emote joy felt like a return to classic pop; the feeling this genre once contained known as “bubblegum.”

PUBLIC – Make You Mine (Official Video)

Tracks like “Make You Mine” played so well, live. They make music that by the 2nd chorus, you know the verse and the vibe and you are singing along. While Pop will never lose its ability to ignite a mass sing-along, it has lost, a little bit, of its cheesy, hopeless romantic. They have the songs that make you feel like you are one high-school crush away from finding “the one” and riding off to the sunset. This dynamic relies on John Vaughan, Matt Alvarado, and Ben Lapps’  ability to sing their hearts out as if they are, literally, singing their hearts out for audience to love them.

PUBLIC – One That I Want [Official Video]

Overall, Public The Band was such a FUN concert. They are right up there with Harry Styles or the JoBros in delivering a show that is simply light. Let people have fun, believe relationships never get complicated, and sing along off-key in a public place with no shame at all. THANK YOU PUBLIC! For More Information On Public The Band Click Here.
